CARING FOR YOUR LEATHER ACCESSORIES/ BRACELETS

From suits to hoodies,  men’s leather bracelets can be dressed up or worn down. Treat yours well, and you’ll find that it matches perfectly with anything in your closet. Mistreat it. and you'll end up with a dry, shriveled accessory. Or worse… one covered in mould.

Your Skins Leather Accessories are inspected, cleaned, polished and conditioned before they are beautifully packaged and shipped to you. To maintain the natural beauty of the leather and to keep your Skins Leather Accessories soft, subtle, and lasting forever, we suggest you follow these takeaway tips:

Store Them Carefully

Always store your jewellery in a separate zip lock or in the bag it was packaged in so that they do not rub against each other and discolor. If need be, you can wipe your jewellery gently with a soft cloth or cotton after every use to ensure their longevity – never wipe aggressively. Don't Leave your leather bracelet Out for Long Hours and store it in a cool dry place away from moisture and sunlight.

Always Protect Your Bracelet from Moisturizers, Creams, Oils, Perfumes & Colognes

Apply moisturizers, oils, and colognes before wearing your leather bracelets as it traps moisture and may build up a film on the leather that can dull the look & feel of the hide. Avoid spraying colognes and perfumes while wearing your leather accessories as it may tarnish the surface of the bracelet or any other accessory.

Keep Your Leather Bracelets Dry

  • Leather will lose its natural oil and shrink if you shower or swim in a pool or the ocean. It can also happen if your bracelet gets soaked in the rain or you wear to the gym as sweat would also act in the same manner. When these rich oils are gone, you’ll find that the leather bracelet stiffens, cracks, and even shrinks.
  • Leather can also discolour if exposed to too much water, Prolonged soaking in water can cause the colour of your leather bracelet to fade or wear off completely. Most leather bracelets are either dyed or painted with colour, swimming or showering with your bracelet can cause the colour to fade or peel off.
  • Genuine leather acts like skin, meaning it’s porous and will never be completely waterproof. Water can damage a leather bracelet and cause it to stain, discolour, or deteriorate. If your leather bracelet gets wet, the first step is to gently brush off the water, While using a soft, absorbent cloth to pat the strap (not scrub), and let it air-dry naturally. Do not use any chemicals to clean your jewellery as it may cause tarnishing.

Avoid Excessive Heat

It’s best to take off your bracelet when sleeping or during a heavy workout. Leather does best in cool or room-temperature areas. Extreme heat can dry it out, so avoid radiators, stoves, or campfires.

Avoid Continuous Usage

No matter how much we love our baubles, we need to give them a break. Continuous usage of your favourite jewellery also leads to earlier wear and tear of either the metal or any other material which is used in the making of such fine fashion accessories.

HOW TO STOP MEN’S LEATHER BRACELETS FROM SMELLING

Leather can mould with prolonged exposure to water. If your leather bracelet gets wet and doesn’t dry properly, it can grow mould. Mould will obviously not look good, but it also adversely impacts the strength of the bracelet and can smell bad.

With proper care, your leather bracelet shouldn’t smell. If it does, it needs a good cleaning and time to air-out. It also indicates that you’re wearing it too much without giving it time to ‘breathe’.

Leather is a porous material and absorbs sweat, oils, and dirt. This can’t be stopped… it will happen.

To give your leather bracelet a fighting chance, don’t wear it during activities where you know you’ll sweat (the gym, for example) and always take it off while sleeping.
